On Friday, January 31, the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center became a bustling hub of connection and collaboration for the biannual Student Involvement Fair. The event, hosted by the Johns Hopkins Leadership Engagement and Experiential Development office, is an opportunity for students to explore the hundreds of student-run organizations available to join on campus.
At Johns Hopkins University, students looking to get more involved can choose from nearly 400 organizations, many of which had booths at the fair in order to engage with incoming freshmen and returning students like Elizabeth Deng, a neuroscience sophomore and member of the Student Philanthropy Association.
“When I was a freshman, the fair was a great place to find groups that match my interests and discover new ones I came to love,” she says. “As a sophomore, I love representing my organization and talking to potential members.”
The fair is one of many events sponsored by the Hopkins Family Fund, which supports student programming, campus traditions, and extracurricular activities not covered by tuition and fees.
“I’m grateful for the Family Fund for making this fair possible,” Deng says. “Without it, I wouldn’t have met so many new people and organizations.”
